Investigating a meteorite crash near their homes, youthful dinosaur enthusiasts Max, Rex, and Zoe stumble upon an unexpected chance to put their paleontology skills to the test. Near the crash site they discover three palm-sized tablets, and a set of cards depicting a Triceratops. As Max toys with these new discoveries, he somehow summons the Triceratops from the card into life. As excited as the children are to study a real, live dinosaur, they soon have greater concerns: a band of villains has tracked the cards to their location and is intent on turning them to their own evil ends.

Decrying them as useless lapdogs, Dr. Z literally sends Ursula and her team to the doghouse. When an Iguanodon actually does appear near Ayer's Rock, the D-Team race to intercept it, but find Ursula has beaten them to it. In an uncharacteristic display of compassion, Ursula, humbled by Z's subhuman treatment prepares to release the Iguanodon into the wild, but little does she know Seth is hot on her heels and determined not to let this dinosaur escape him.

Ursula and her team head to an abandoned iron mill in Japan to collect Alpha Metal for reconstructing their island base. As fate would have it, the D-Team are also touring the same area on a school field trip. Max and Chomp face off against it, but the enhanced dinosaur is too much for Chomp. Seth makes off with the Alpha Metal as the D-Team struggles to fend off the Alpha Gang and their dinosaurs.

A dinosaur appearance brings the D-Team to Oklahoma at the height of rodeo season. With Ursula and her underlings stuck caring for an ailing Dr. Z., Rod and Laura head to Oklahoma in their place. After goading Max into entering a local rodeo, the duo lays plans to claim the Saurophaganax that first brought them all here. Chomp fights a brave battle against the dinosaur, but only to have Rod and Laura step in and capture it as soon as both battling dinosaurs have exhausted their strength.

The D-Team head to Cambodia in pursuit of a new dinosaur and soon find that Rod and Laura have beaten them there, and have brought their nursemaid Helga along for support. Local villagers, who recognized the dinosaur as a creature from local legend, immediately hail Helga as a goddess sent to protect them. True to legend, Helga makes a brave showing against the Stegosaurus that threatens the village, but the D-Team must step in to stop it completely. No sooner have they done so than Rod and Laura sneak in and make off with the Stegosaurus card.

In a rare moment of peace, the D-Team head to Chinatown to check out a celebrated touring chef. But sure enough, before they have even had a chance to order, their plans are cut short by a Mapusaurus appearance. As Helga and the touring chef begin a heated cooking competition, Max and Chomp begin a desperate battle to defeat the Mapusaurus in time to catch the meal theyâ??d been looking forward to.

Max rescues his mother but finds it difficult to corner the speedy dinosaur in the twisting streets of the city. Finally, the team wraps Ace in a red cloak and draw it into a historic bullfight ring, where they will attempt to capture it matador style.

Dr. Owen is called in as an expert adviser for a Hollywood dinosaur blockbuster and he soon finds himself at odds with the director, who is aiming more for dazzle than realism. As the dinosaur throws more and more films into confusion with each appearance, Rod and Laura from The Alpha Gang arrive and pit their robotic nursemaid against the creature.

After waiting far too long in the shadows, pretending to overlook the ineptitude of his master, Dr. Z, Seth finally begins to enact his plan to take over The Alpha Gang. The D-Team also rushes to the scene and discovers the dinosaur in a railcar on the Trans-Siberian Railroad. They struggle to extricate it from the train without injuring its countless passengers, even as The Alpha Gang descends to capture the dinosaur themselves.

With dinosaur influenza raging through Alpha Gang's ranks, Dr. Z uses their teleportation device to beam in a top-notch dinosaur veterinarian. Unable to get a call through to Zoe, Max and Rex stop by her home, only to find the entire house along with its residents gone. When their Dino holders detect Paris on Alpha's hidden island, they teleport in to rescue their friend. Zoe's father, however, an accomplished doctor, refuses to leave the island before treating his dinosaur patients. As he gives chase to an ailing Tyrannosaurus, Max and Rex work to lower the force field trapping them on the island.

These stories intertwine as they learn that the dinosaur, perhaps an ancient ancestor of modern birds who gather shiny objects to their nests, has been pilfering shiny trinkets from the city's geisha. Max, Rex, and Zoe race to capture the dinosaur, even as the Alpha Gang arrives to beat them to it. Meanwhile, the boys' fathers hunt for the dinosaur's nest, and its trove of stolen trinkets, in hopes of winning the attention of a geisha or two.

One Final Move!
Dr. Z and his remaining minions face off against Seth's Saurophaganax. Joining all their dinosaurs in one Fusion Attack, they narrowly emerge victorious. Undaunted, Seth unleashes the pinnacle of his artificial evolution, the Black T-Rex. When the creature begins wreaking havoc on the D-Team's hometown, they have no choice but to join forces with their archenemy, Dr. Z, and face off against Seth. It seems it will take more than strength in numbers, however, to defeat Seth's prize dinosaur. The Black T-Rex quickly corners the D-Team and all of their dinosaurs.

Dinosaur War!
Determined to stop Seth from creating a world ruled by mutant dinosaurs, the D-Team races to stop the time machine at the heart of Alpha's secret island. Max and Chomp close in on the time machine even as it begins to operate, blurring the boundaries of space and time and releasing dinosaurs into the present. Meanwhile the rest of the D-Team join forces against Seth's Black T-Rex, but even as they land one Fusion Attack after another, the dinosaur is barely phased.
